Flowers in St Chad’s
Beautifully arranged Autumnal flowers. Probably left over from the Harvest Festival. In the 1980s and 1990s, in the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, there was a rota involving 250 women to create flower arrangements in every ward and on every corridor. The flowers were changed every three days. I used to do the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. Most of us used the foliage and flowers from our gardens. That couldn’t possibly happen now. Flowers aren’t allowed on the wards and most young mums are now working. Happy days.
