I planted some dahlias for one of my clients in the spring. They were supposed to be taller, 3 - 4 feet, but only grew to about 2 feet. They have been blooming all summer so when the frost kills them, I will dig them up and see if I can overwinter them in the garage or the basement here. Then in the spring there is another area of the garden where they can be planted and the clients (both seniors) can enjoy seeing them from their deck.
Last fall I had hired a guy, then he made a mistake, and was too embarrassed about it, he never came back to work. In September, he saw my ad that I was looking for someone, so he contacted me and said he would be willing to work. I told him after I finished moving I would contact him and get him to help with some jobs. I messaged him on the weekend, and he was supposed to start today. He never showed up, I sent him a message, it showed as read, but he never replied. This afternoon I sent him another message, told him it shows how much respect he has for me, when he couldn't be bothered to let me know he was not coming to work. I left it there for an hour, it showed that he read it, so I blocked his number.
Out of 8 women who have worked for me this summer, there is only one that I would not have back, and that is because she quit without giving me any notice. Out of 8 guys, only one lasted more than a month, and most of them only worked a week, then disappeared, no notice, nothing. Two of the 8 guys continue to work part time for me when they have time available from their other job/school. What does that say about the work ethic of male vs female?
