Class 33 at Rolvenden

My third full learning turn at Rolvenden signalbox. Dare I say it that the some of the regular moves are becoming more embedded.

Passing and crossing of trains is relatively straightforward and not as pressurised as at Wittersham Road. Moves in and out of the carriage shed and the yard and fuel runs are also becoming clearer.

The challenge for me will always be knowing how all the rules, regulations and exceptions are applied at this box and being able to answer questions such as “if you failed to get correct indications on points 24, what would you do?”

The end of the shift was delayed as the crew of the Class 33 diesel decided that they needed to refuel on their way back to the carriage shed. Todays blip is of the 33 on the first train of the day from Tenterden. This is the last day but one of its sojourn on the KESR, it’s leaving to go back to Norfolk after Sunday’s turns.


That took over 15 minutes which made time right to get home so we could both have dinner before Susan went to her guitar group and I went to the Marmites.
