glistening
This is the Glistening Inkcap, Coprinellus micaceus. See my extra for a view of the powdery "mica" on its surface. This is the remains of the "universal veil", as are the white spots on a fly agaric toadstool.
The mushrooms were on a decaying tree stump down by the Routin Brig, where Jess and I took our afternoon walk. It's all starting to look very autumnal now, and the paths are covered by a carpet of fallen leaves. We are holding out until the clocks change until we put any heating on, and so far I haven't felt too cold in the house...
