Eastern Spinebill Mark 3

I love these little birds.

But just look at the eye on this one - or lack thereof. Her eye seems to be diseased or missing. I have another shot of her other side and her eye is bright and normal. It didn't seem to stop her feeding on this salvia, although she might have been a little less skittish than the spinebills in my own garden, who have both eyes.

Salvia flowers are perfectly engineered to cope with the long beak of the Spinebill.

Oh, I am absolutely not concentrating. This isn't the salvia shot. Sorry about that. The salvia is just alongside this bush - you'll have to imagine it.

Today was a typical packed to the gills Sunday. The Stirling Autumn Garden Festival was on, as well as a couple of open gardens in the area. The Autumn colour up there is just gorgeous right now. The Rower is blipping a street scene. This shot was taken at The Chestnuts, an open garden at Crafers, the village next door to Stirling.
