Albuquerque, New Mexico

I am held in the loving arms of dear, dear friends not seen in many years. They delight in Sue, and she in them. They have made much of us. We have wept and laughed and told stories and laughed some more. They fed us elegantly with creativity and care. They gave us a room to sleep in. Tomorrow we will do some sight seeing, and I will ask their permission to post a picture of them. Today was about the encounter. All day we were involved, and then suddenly the moon was out, shining above the adobe building across the street. This is the view from their balcony. Good night, beautiful-place-that-is-not-anything-like-Portland. And (for the moment) no smoke.

Taking a plane. Renting a car. We are mired and participant in the causes and conditions that bring on climate catastrophe. We are not unaware of this. We search for a way out of the net, a way to change the systems. And in the meanwhile, so much love. Memory. Kindness and celebration. All together.
