Can robots paint?

Today the robotic artist , Ai-Da, made history by giving evidence to a parliamentary inquiry .
 
All this may be news to members of Parliament but artists have been using software to boost creativity for a long time.
 
Take these three apples (see extra). I pushed them through two apps using artificial intelligence to create a digital painting.  I decided to push it a bit further and made a mini movie (see instagram).
 
And I am only tinkering at the very edges of creativity and artificial intelligence.
 
Oh yes, it was all done on my iphone.
