The web in the window
Window Web
her web
through
wavy, bubbled
glassy pane
strung strong
of woven
spider silk,
viscous thread
stretched straight,
eight able legs,
spinnerets, a
helpful breeze
anchor one lustrous
strand then zigzag
spun in darkness,
corner in to open
sticky center circle
for trapping, stunning
unsuspecting prey.
it appears to us
hung with tensile
strength, brilliant
in morning light
framed with
autumn palette,
gold and red
above tidal
waters oh
so blue,
so bright.
We have an old front door here framed on both sides by four panes of antique glass.Caulking and painting needed, but the wavy glass is beautiful, often giving an arcade view. Today the top panel the left is decorated with a wondrous web. T spied it coming downstairs. I photographed it with my iPhone with just a couple processing enhancements.I thought it deserved a poem, fragments came to me in the shower, my favorite thinking place(especially the I was teaching, I planned many lessons). We have restored our old window in Massachusetts and love wavy old glass.
"Properties of Wavy Glass
The early manufacturing methods for float glass caused subtle waves to appear. Glass produced between the 1700s and early 1900s have this antique “wavy glass” appearance. Another name for the old-looking glass is restoration window glass. The distortion and imperfections appear when looking at the glass from angles or looking straight through it. The earlier the glass was produced, the more likely it will have small seeds or pits and heavy cords (reams) throughout. In the 1950’s, smooth float glass was manufactured using the Pilkington Process. Glass throughout history has evolved, but antique glass is here to stay. Preservationists love to keep the antique charm of the wavy glass windows. Mouthblown glass is the manufacturing method for authentic historic glass. ~architecturalglass.com
I'm feeling fine from my stumble and flight on the beach, just a knee sore to the touch. Almost 5 months post surgery now for my hip replacement, it's perfect. I'd give my vertigo a B - today, much improved. I'm being very cautious with my eyes and head position.
For the Record,
This day came in sunny and cold. The temps were in the mid to low 30s last night.
All hands begging for PEACE.
