Cheeeeese!!

Heard a unusual story today about a golden retriever.
The owners had this dog from a pup , she is now 7 years old. They got a second goldie about a year later. Then just recently they got a little Yorkie pup.
I bumped into the young son today walking the male dog and was chatting to him. I asked if he was just doing one dog at a time, which he often does since they are such big dogs, and he replied "no".
He told me that the other retriever was a bad influence on the pup so they have given her away to a new home......
Is it just me..... Or is that a bit bizarre. You have a dog for 7 years, (and she is a lovely typical retriever nature) and then new pup on the scene, so you just give it away......
Of course there could be more to it than the story he has told me, perhaps his parents have told him that to soften a rather sad ending..... But she looked fine when I saw her at the beginning of the week with the boys father.

Something odd about it all.
