Companion piece....
....to this. This time, I spied the towers of Tain rising in places above the trees, when seen from Tain Links, with the light sky behind.
It was a red sky this morning, and indeed a warning. While the weather held it together during the morning allowing us to get a decent walk around the town, by the time we left just after 2pm it was starting to be damp in the air. After that, the windscreen wipers were never on less than intermittent all the way to Edinburgh. At times, the rain was pretty heavy. I'm glad we didn't leave it any later to set off, because then I would have had the darkness and rain combo which I am really not that keen on. It's been well publicised that there have been more fatalities in the A9 this year than for many years. In fact, I don't find it a particularly dangerous road so long as you drive it in a non-aggressive way, and you don't allow yourself to be intimidated by things that happen.
Today we made decent time, and we were back in the garage at home in 3 hours 35 minutes, including a stop to use the toilet facilities at the Broxden Services.
We've had Lochinver fruit pie for dinner (we had some fish for lunch before we left), although I also had some cheese and biscuits. There is another savoury pie for dinner tomorrow.
