A Slice Of Space

Photographs, it is sometimes said, present a slice of time, recording a mere split second. I thought today I would use my long lens, a wide aperture and, moving the focus point through the scene, pick out shapes and colours until I found an interesting composition thereby capturing a slice in space (as well as a slice in time, I suppose).

I wonder if, in doing so, the image better conveys the extent of the scene before me than if I had tried to maintain sharpness throughout. I think perhaps consolidating patches of colour helps to express the sensation I had being there, suggesting the space before and beyond rather than describing it.
