Busy, busy
Today dawned bright and sunny and we three siblings had arranged to drive over to Aylesford in Kent for our annual-ish visit to our Aunt Margaret, who is now 92. A slow journey, again, as there was a lot of congestion on the road down to the M25, and we'd decided to make a detour to the NT property at Scotney Castle near Lamberhurst; we are all life members.
We finally arrived and turned into the single-track lane which was sign-posted to the Castle, to join a queue which appeared to stretch to infinity! After a long crawl we were told to park in the overflow car park as we hadn't booked ahead - we didn't know we had to! - and we then had a 15 minute walk to the house. Sister and brother went to the shop to find some food while I walked the 400 yards down to the lake and the old Castle building, my Blip today. When I returned I found that they had failed to find food, so we had to leave as we didn't want to be late for our family visit!
During the drive to Aylesford we bought sandwiches at a garage and sat in a noisy lay-by to have lunch - not the ideal picnic place - before going on to meet the Aunt where we stayed for a couple of hours before beginning the journey home! We must go back for a proper visit to Scotney another day!
