B is for Band...Brody in the Band

Lisa and I had the pleasure of going with Grandpa Al and Grandma Shelley (Naturelover) to go see their grandson Brody, who is in the Michigan State marching band. The rehearsal was the last practice before tomorrow's halftime show against the Ohio State buckeyes.

Imagine (if you will) 300 students, all with horns or a set of drums, roaming the field while playing, with everybody trying to hit their "spots."

I was amazed to see how much planning went into the show, and how the kids had to fit into the intricate moves. And the sound...WHOA!

I guess the sound is what happens when you take the best of the best from the high school bands and put them into one big super band. I hope you can tell that I was impressed.

In the extras is our little group. Grandpa Al, Brody's girlfriend Mason (who is also in the band), Grandma Shelley, Brody, and Lisa.

The only problem with the afternoon? It was cold. The car thermometer read 50F, but with the wind and being at the top of the open bleachers...BRRRR.

P.S. Brody is right in the middle of my picture, playing the alto sax.
