Best foot forward....
Another day of wishing I'd stayed in bed !
Started off not too bad,so once I'd been round the cattle, started to add water to the slurry I was mixing yesterday as it was still too thick. Asked Kev to put two or three cans of diesel in the Landini tractor as it was still in place mixing and couldn't get out as the other slats were lifted out in front of it.
Nipped down to the next door farm to ask about spreading some slurry on the field we winter sheep on.
While I was there I spotted the farrier busy working on this horse. Now I don't know much about horses, and am quite happy to stay that way,but it was interesting to watch him work.
Back home and wondered why the Landini was coughing and spluttering. Turns out Kev had picked up the wrong can and glugged some power washer soap into the tank. Realising his mistake, rather than telling me and I would have stopped the engine and drained the fuel tank,he decided that if he filled the tank full of diesel it would dilute it. It didn't !
So then had to drain 80 litres of contaminated diesel out the tank,go a 60 mile round trip to get new fuel filters and spend a couple of hours buggering about tonight to get it going again. Still running a bit rough, but thankfully it doesn't have all the fancy computer controlled bits of the bigger tractors. Hopefully the injection pump will survive in one piece.
Grrr.
