Old Friends and Leyna's Leggings
Today seemd rather restful possibly due to not really walking anywhere, which was a shame as we woke up to a lovely sunny vista through the van window while drinking the first cup of coffee. L also spotted a little food truck that seemed to be dispensing some kind of breakfast treat at the entrance to the site. Tempting as L's oatmeal and kefir breakfast looked, I was drawn by the potential option of something that had at least an evens chance of being more attractive and so it was -- Breakfast Baps! And to cap it all, they were being served by a Scot with a strong scottish accent and a T-Shirt bearing his nom de cusiine 'Tattie McSpudFace'. Bap was delicious by the way.
And then after various domestic duties, we awaited our friends Tony and Sue coming down from Cirencester en route from Manchester and on their way back home to Southampton. Tony used to lead the Southampton Community Church and Cornerstone Ministeries we were involved with in another age! Drove down to Salisbury City Center and had a pleasant lunch in the New Inn - this is the garden behind the pub and then did a little shopping before heading back to the site.
Having eaten well at lunchtime, our 'dinner' was a light one, but notable for the fact that this time L was lured into the magnetic orbit of Tattie McSpudFace and succumbed to one of his jacket potatoes with the unusual filling of....haggis! To me this was just another excuse to have oatmeal for dinner, but each to his own I guess. I was happy with my freshly backed mini baguette and ham sandwich.
Read some more Bill Bryson, and ironically the next chapter was all about Cornwall, including a visit to Mevagissey and a whole page on the 'Lost Gardens of Heligan' - very nostalgic. Watched a little John Oliver and his satirical but concerning piece on the dangers facing Brazilian democracy and now we get to sleep here in Salisbury for our final night before making our way north for a night outside the Sutton crew.
