Sunshine and ...Downpours!
Got soaking wet opening the hens this am - my own fault as I pottered around trying to make the run as protected as I could do with bits of corrugated plastic! Once you are wet you can't really get any wetter! The hens being sensible stayed undercover! Once home quick shower and off to the field. I had texted Ivy's owner to not wait for me but as the rain had stopped and he had a flask of soup with him he stayed for us! Ivy even played a little with Oscar before going to hunt rodents in the long grass! Oscar is not into this game, preferring to stay with me and The Owner and looking hopefully at us for treats!
Once home I gathered all the things I'd broken over the last week/year and glued them back together! I now have a cat, a dragon, a cup, a felt mushroom on a piece of wood and a metal frog with a crown ( I've tried kissing it but it refuses to change into a prince!)
After a late lunch I met my ex next door neighbour for a walk - Oscar and Frankie were delighted to see each other again! The sun had come out and it was a lovely walk along the river. Not being one to beat around the bush I asked her what was going on with her ex! They are back together! But no way will she live with him again! As he is working at Hinckley Point and home every other weekend I thought she might be tempted! She is moving back to her own house, son not really on speaking terms with her as he feels hard done by, which is a bit of a cheek considering she has let him live in her house for many years! She does still see her grandchildren - just not as often as she used to. One factor in her splitting up was the fact her sons were not allowed to visit her as they had had a falling out with her partner - ironic that since she has split with them she no longer has good contact with them! families eh?! I feel so fortunate that my family never had such rifts - although me getting a tattoo and a third cat did perturb my dad a little!!
I think the cat is scowling at me as Oscar has woofed at her before - this time he seemed oblivious to its presence even though I stopped to photograph it. It had certainly found a sunny spot to sit, and hadn't dislodged the tomatoes!!
