Rainy, rainy day here so a bit of a workshop making-day. Including these bottle openers, one out of Oak, the other, purpleheart.
Apparently;
Most species grow in the Amazon basin.
Its not always purple - when the wood is first cut it's more of a dull grey or faded brown colour, but with age and sun exposure, the wood darkens and becomes more purple-ish.
It is almost unbreakable - purpleheart wood is one of the hardest woods in the world.
It is said to have spiritual qualities - many believe it enhances creative energy, knowledge, assists in healing and eliminates negative energies and tension in the home.
