Undefined Measures…

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to be a hip replacement bore but I have been googling which is never a good idea and I think I am getting a little ahead of myself as an operation has not been agreed. I have discovered that there is an Enhanced recovery program which clearly sound wonderful.

If I have understood it correctly the better condition you can get yourself into before the operation the more likely you are to get on the program. The program just seems to be shortening the time that you can resume various activities.

The initial 6 weeks I think does not change as this is the time your bone knits to the implant but there the rest is slightly accelerated.

I have the weight stuff under control so nothing to do there other than stick to the diet. The slightly challenging things is exercise and I have had quite a lot of muscle wastage and some areas are more like a jellyfish than someone who exercises a lot, but how do I exercise more when my hip is super wonky… Cycling makes sense as it is non weight bearing but I can’t get on a road bike anymore, walking is no good the two tenths of a mile walk for the hotel to the training center was a nightmare last week, swimming is no good as I can only do breaststroke and the leg action would not be possible, I think I might end up swimming in circles – Grrr… One for me to ponder.

Stay happy, strong, and healthy

POG,,
