Fragment of a figure
One of the first sculptures MrHCB and I acquired 30-odd years ago was Fragment of a figure by Glyn Philpot (detail in main blip). It's been on display in whichever house or flat we've been living in since then, but I knew almost nothing about it until I saw it in the exhibition in Chichester yesterday. It dates from 1914 and is cast in lead patinated silver (it's heavy!). In Chichester it's cleverly displayed in front of a photo of the interior of a house that Philpot designed at the same time. Both the sculpture and the house were inspired by Nijinsky's L'Après-midi d'un faune (extra).
