Living in Brabant

By AilsaR

Forget me not

Freedom

To live in a multi-racial society, and all the benefits that enriches us with.
To worship your God of choice. Or not worship at all if you don't want to.

Freedom to sit in the park with your friends and/or family on a sunny Spring day.
Freedom to set up an impromptu band on the streets and busk away to your heart's desire.

Freedom to travel by train or bus.
To cycle or walk from one part of town to the other without being stopped to have your particulars checked.

To wear whatever you like, read whatever you desire, observe what you want. To be gay or straight as a die.

Enjoy every minute of it, but now and again spend a little time to not take it for granted.

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.
