Tiny Tuesday: Ugly Bug

You have to wonder really, whether anyone loves a cranefly, even its parents.  Certainly I don't see that it has much going for it in the looks department, and gardeners hate them in their larval phase: "leather jackets".

The birds like them though, and we're always delighted to see the Green Woodpecker drilling the lawn in search of them whenever he visits.

Finally, while the news was too late for me to include in yesterday's blip I can't let today's entry pass without mentioning that we heard yesterday from our daughter Jess, who having now got her PhD is Doctor Jess :-)))  We are of course delighted for her after all the hard work that she has put into her studies, and bursting with pride for her.
