Mushroom hunting

We went mushroom hunting today. Brendan and I, Katie, Luke, and Vanessa. Combing the beech woods along grapevine point keeping an eye out for morrels. Morrels are wild mushrooms that come up this time of the year all over Michigan, and many other parts of the states. People take mushroom hunting seriously up here in Northern Michigan too, I mean they are pretty damn delicious...

Spring is the time for them, and last year was a cold spring and I never found any. Sooo, I found my first morrels, in fact we collected almost two pounds of wild mushrooms! Training my eye for that elusive fungus poking out from the leaf litter and rotting logs. We're already talking about another fungus foray this weekend. Tomorrow night we're sauting these guys up with some butter over the wood stove and voila! Heaven.

After we got back to camp we laid out our find and hey, check out Brendan with the loot!
