Backstage with Jah Wobble
A slow start to the day. Then feed the chooks and head for Earlston. We have quite a list of things to remember, and we forget to pick up the pastry from the unit. So, we go back.
Kerry has already made a dahl. She’s also got some nice recipes for roast cauliflower and simple flatbread from the confusingly named veggiedesserts.com. Everything is ready by the time Alan and Sandra arrive.
Is a lovely dinner, but there’s no time for dessert (apple and plum pie) because the show must go on! We get to Macarts in Galashiels just as Jah Wobble and the Invaders of the Heart launch into their first tune.
It’s another great gig. Jah is rambling and funny. He’s relentlessly rude to his drummer, but the vibe seems happy. The band are amazing - with a special shout out to the guitarist. Standing to the side of the speakers, the sound quality is a bit dodgy, especially the keyboards.
It’s not as busy as it was for Hayseed Dixie on Friday, so it’s quite easy to spot the old school crew: Ali, Gordy, Floyd, Pol (and the next generation Quintan & Titus).
And then it’s over. There’s time for a bit of a catch up, but they need to close the venue. We’re out in the cold at 11, saying our goodbyes. Alan and Sandra give us a lift back to Earlston and come in for a bit. Kerry and I are in bed by 2, which gives us 4 hours until the alarm goes off.
Ouch.
