WEB
Identification - nephila pilipes, golden orb weaver.
The inevitable happened on my early safari this morning, I walked into a giant web of a golden orb weaver. Fortunately she was only a juvenile and she did not know what to do with the gross looking bug that she had snared. I managed to back out without doing any damage.
Normally any webs across the path are cleared by the farmers, but being a good six inches shorter than me, they missed this one. I decided to leave the web up, but it was unlikely to survive the day. No sweat though, she will put up a new web in one night.
The beauty of this web location was that I got to capture the morning sun on the gossamer threads.
