Weaving?

I'm not sure what these are called, but they were hanging all along the fence outside the local school.  The children had obviously been wrapping wool around crossed sticks - not something I have seen before.

We had a nice country-ish walk.  The weather was lovely.  Haven't done much else today other than watch the church service.
