We made it!

We were feeling pretty smug about having already made alternative arrangements to get to London ahead of the rail strikes. However, we were stupid enough to think that hundreds of others hadn’t had the same plan. A long day of travel, including an emergency lift into Oxford City with my brother and a very nice Pad Thai from a street market whilst in a very long queue. Felt incredibly sorry for a runner on the bus who didn’t know if he’d make it to the Expo in time to pick up his race number. The striking has definitely had huge knock-on affects for many people, unfortunately though - all the wrong people.

We made it to our hotel in Kensington in time to have a beer and then a lovely sunny evening walk to find food. We are now feeling sufficiently well fuelled to support Marathon Mel in the morning. My goodness, it’s a whole lot more fun as a spectator, certainly less stressful!
