It's not Sunday yet ...

Do you ever go through a day reminding yourself that you've not yet reached the next one? I've kept feeling that it was Sunday today, right up to the moment when, still out for a walk, I was convinced I had to hurry home to put a chicken in the oven ... But no. That's tomorrow's dinner. Sufficient unto the day is the chicken thereof ...

I never meant to have a second idle start in two days, but that's what happened. I did however do a washing - even hung some things out for an hour or so between showers - mainly because we both realised we were in danger of running out of essential items! And I made rather splendid soup from the chicken stock that's been filling up the freezer and the vegetable bits from the bottom of the fridge. I seasoned it with Mixed Spice, smoked sea salt, and ten peppercorns and am quietly pleased with the result.

In the afternoon we returned to a walk we don't seem to have done for months, along the far (west) side of Loch Eck. I think we avoid it in the sunny days of summer because by the afternoon it's in the shade of the steeply-rising hills on that side of the loch and we prefer to see the sun when it's there. Today we had thoughts of avoiding the wind and maybe the showers (it's got trees that provide some shelter) and were justified on both counts. It was quietly enjoyable, the three people we met with dogs all had them either on the lead or under control, and the areas where trees have been felled have greened over a bit and now allow better views of the loch.

Blipping the view of the end of the loch as we come along the path. Three of this year's sheep are giving us the once-over, and there is no wind to speak of. Loch Eck provides our water supply; I think you can see we don't seem to be in any danger.

Not from drought anyway.
