freshphoto:a moment a day

Non-conformists unite!

Well, this is the beginning of a blip-challenged week, and I'm adding all these images and comments retrospectively.

After yesterday's conversation with A, I headed back over for another chat, and finally stopped talking twelve hours later, which meant that inadvertently this was the only picture I took that day. Sometimes other things have to take precedence.

Somehow though, the image is sort of relevant. At the time I took it because "Christmas" trees look odd out of context - blue summer skies and thousands of other identical trees don't go with the idea of carefully personalising a midwinter festival symbol. And I liked the contrast of the lone deciduous tree.

I get the distinct impression that many blippers are not comfortable with the idea of conforming. By resisting the safety of the crowd the individual stands out, exposed and vulnerable. That may make our lives more difficult - but how much more interesting those lives are!

Once again, Python got it right:

Brian: Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't NEED to follow ME, you don't NEED to follow ANYBODY! You've got to think for yourselves! You're ALL individuals!
The Crowd (in unison): Yes! We're all individuals!
Brian: You're all different!
The Crowd (in unison): Yes, we ARE all different!
Man in Crowd: I'm not...
The Crowd: Shhh!
