Flowering rush

Amongst the reed beds at the Loch of Strathbeg RSPB reserve there are still a few of the starry pink blooms of flowering rushes - and in a small patch of open water a pair of whooper swans ( extra). Overhead were the ' lang, lang skeins of beating wings' as the pink footed geese arrived and departed from the Loch.
