Shetland Peerie Makkers

A couple of showers, mostly in the morning.  The rest of the day has been mostly sunny, tad breezy at times.

Up early, and headed out walkies after breakfast.  A busy morning tidying around the garden, got the barbecue put away, and then headed into town for shopping.  Met mam for lunch.  Me and friend Julie headed down to Laura's for a cuppa, and walk the dogs.  Been in Lerwick this evening for a meal with family, and now hitting the town.

Shetland Wool Week has returned this year, and sounds like it's been a huge success again.  I met mam at the Makkers Market, which basically was a woolly craft fair.  After lunch, we headed to see the Shetland Peerie Makkers, as nieces Lottie and Anna were knitting at it.  The Makkers club is a Shetland based knitting group, run by volunteers to teach school bairns a dying art.  The work they have done has been a huge success, and getting the younger generations back into our huge skilled knitting heritage.  L-R - Anna, Kathryn Mouat, Kirstie Thomson and Lottie.  Taken in the Anderson High School, Lerwick.
