Govett’s Leap

From Govett’s Leap, we go to Lincoln’s Rock, which I remember from over 30 years ago. Not many people knew about the place then (it wasn’t on the maps and wasn’t signposted, and we called it Flat Rock). We’d take the short walk through the bush to sit out on the rocks high above the valley, defying gravity to look out over the valley far below. Now there’s a carpark, a walking track, signposts, and warning signs. And many more names carved into the rocks than I can remember.

I remember the view from Lincoln’s Rock as breathtaking, but not today — by the time we get there the weather has turned. The fog has rolled in and, while we can see enough not to walk off the cliff ledge, that’s about it.
