Sliding down the vennel in the drizzle
This is the name of the street leading towards the castle from Lauriston Place I captured a few weeks ago.
According to Wikipedia it means 'a passageway between the gables of two buildings. Unlike a tenement entry to private property, known as a "close", a vennel was a public way leading from a typical Scottish high street to the open ground beyond the burgage plots.'
I finally uploaded my collection of weird street names enjoy!
