All steamed up - backblip
Mr HB wanted to visit the Whitby Museum this morning so we left our friends C, K & Gemdog to their own devices and off we went. Unfortunately we couldn’t find anywhere to park as the Museum is in part of the Council Offices and only the staff are allowed to park there. The surrounding streets are for disc parking only and the other car parks are way off down in the town. I really couldn’t face the long walk back up to the Museum so we decided to abandon that idea for another time.
My blip is of a steam train in the valley below our camping field which we often see. I have to own up and tell you that it isn’t my photo. K took it shortly after we left for Whitby, I’m very envious as I had so hoped to bag one myself this week!
At our friend C’s request we returned to Grosmont this afternoon as he knew that his most favourite steam engine, Sir Nigel Gresley, would be running today and he wasn’t disappointed, nor were we. C got some great pictures. Mine not so great but I’ve put one in extra* of the magnificent machine. With yet more pints of the best, we soaked up even more steam atmosphere in a ‘Club’ near the station where C was in his element! I see from fellow Blipper Tryfan46 that he and his wife also experienced an amazing day at the Steam Rally yesterday. I wish I’d known, we could have arranged a Blipmeet!
In a shop opposite the station I purchased 100g of chocolate caramels for me and a trio of Whitby Gins for my friend Helen, whose Birthday it is on the 29th.
