Today was spent screeding the shed floor - finished in almost darkness, so it will have to be tomorrow's blip. We are all exhausted and filthy after a day of hard labour - call it an energy crisis. Barely a spoonful of lime left over, so full marks to the quantity surveyor

The country is in the throes of a self-imposed financial crisis. Pension funds and national credibility as a reserve currency are at risk. The emergency solution is for the Bank of England to buy bonds that were issued by the British government. There is probably somebody somewhere to whom that makes any kind of sense
