Hairstreak Butterfly conservation!

The Hairstreak Butterfly lays its eggs in hedgerows usually on Blackthorn or Sloe trees in the autumn, the eggs hatch in the spring.
The butterfly has become very rare due to Hedgecutting in the winter by farmers the butterfly eggs then lost.
So Mike from Worcestershire Butterly conservation bought me some sloes and asked me to make some Jelly to help raise awareness for the Hairstreak Butterfly and the importance of Hedgerows encouraging farmers to only cut their hedges every 3 years to help build the colonies of butterflies.
This is the result . We or course had to have a cream tea to try out the Hairstreak Jelly!!
