Lilia defensive pits …..

….. at Rough Castle Roman Fort on the Antonine Wall. A really interesting walk this afternoon. Lovely weather too.

The extra explains that the defensive pits had hidden spikes. Nasty!!

Although we have lived in this area for 35 years we had never explored this part of the wall.

A wee bonus on the road home…. we met a Welsh Springer Spaniel. Reminded us of our first dog, Sam.
