Thanks to Utilities ongoing annexation of the west side of Thirlmere I ended up going off piste.

I saw some folk who were clearly not out for a walk and collecting for their own pot but part of what I have long suspected as being evidence of what can only be described as almost industrial scale harvesting of the local fungi for commercial purposes. When I got back I checked some of the local restaurants which speak for themselves...

Edit - I forgot to say, I met a couple from the northeast by the tarn who asked me directions. They gave me a tamarind to try ... my first ever!
