Storm Petrel chick

The success of ground-nesting species on Bird Island depends on keeping the place rat-free. These green boxes contain bait that is checked monthly for any signs of nibbling. The small entrance can also be tempting to small species like Wilson's Storm Petrels, one of whom has chosen it as a secure nesting spot. This fluffy chick would probably agree.
