greetings

Popped to Glasweego today to visit a fresh first offspring (and its two suspiciously not-at-all-tired-and-knackered-looking parents) and learn of another as-yet-unbirthed pending-child to an existing parent-set whilst eating food and watching amusedly as the hostess attempted to obliquely persuade us that it was we who were cold and wanted to go in as we sat outside in T-shirts whilst she drew her hoody tighter about herself. Most of the host-people's childs' toys are strange and unknown characters but there are the odd couple of familiar if not exactly old (though it came out in 1995) things amongst those derived from modern (and therefore probably shite) child-television. I'm disappointed that the little aliens aren't sold in wind-up versions which stalk zombilically forwards or in editions with little pull-strings which make them say "the claw - IT MOVES" as the string is retracted. A major failing on the part of the manufacturers, especially for not making such things which can tell what time it is in order to suddenly start walking slowly but menacingly across the floor towards the owning-child's bed in the middle of the night as it sleeps, waking it with their sinister clockwork-noises and tapping feet. Remember how scared it was possible to be as a child twenty-odd years ago after watching sock puppets and paper cut-out animation? With the advanced technology available today children should be in a state of permanent fear that a photo-realistic CGI dragon is likely to bite off their feet if they dare to put their feet outside the covers; instead they sing the Fireman Sam song and weep when they displace the dribble-covered red blanket thing attached to IgglePiggle by means of soggy velcro.
