Greeting first breath of spring with a sunburst of yellow...

Forsynthia flowers are beautiful, no wonder they are the subject of poetry, being symbols of longevity and eternity. Each Spring, they shine in unearthly color, - and only God knows to what extent - to what degree the hues will enthrall. "Vespa yellow " is as close as anyone has ever described their color.

The flowers are produced in the early spring before the leaves. The flowers are insanely vivid yellow with a deep four-lobed flower, the petals joined only at the base. The genus is named after William Forsyth a Scottish botanist who was royal head gardener and a founding member of the Royal Horticultural Society. He died when his Vespa crashed going through a yellow.
