Decided on a detour to avoid big traffic jams at rush hour on the Angouleme-Bordeaux-Toulouse dual carriageway

Heading in the general direction of Marmande on a cross country route to get to Langon and then the toll motorway to Pau - through scenic wine country around Libourne, Saint-Germain-de-Graves and Saint-Émilion

Planning to cross into Espania via the Somport Tunnel in the French Pyrenees or shoot across to enter Espania via San Sebastián and drive down to Valencia via Pamplona
