All colour has drained away. Or has it just “trickled down”?
There's not even any pretence, nor even a nod in the direction of “levelling up”
I remember the horror in 2015 when the Troika decided to set up at least the next three generations of Greek citizens with a debt they could never possibly pay off, and now Truss and Kwarteng have chosen a very similar model for Britain without ever having been threatened.
I'm not an economist and I don't pretend to know how it works, but I suspect they are banking on the principle that galloping inflation will render the debt insignificant before anyone else gets caught with their fingers in the till.
It didn't work last time  .  .  .
