LECCE DAY THREE

Popped round to our favourite local cafe for breakfast, and I found the perfect coffee - ‘Americano con latte caldo, per favore’

We had fresh fruit and thick yoghurt and honey - delicious. Then we had a croissant and another coffee. Then we waited to see a bride arrive at the church.

We went to the wee local market, and then had a wander a bit further from our area. Well, not that far, really. We came to the Roman amphitheatre. When we came back to the Piazza del Doumo, the wee tourist train was sitting there with spare seats. It was full yesterday, so we went and joined it. I used to scoff at such a thing, but in my decrepit old age, I’m quite keen on them now. I’ve been on one in Avignon, Nîmes and even Jersey. And now Lecce. Well, not quite Lecce - we’d only gone about ten minutes when we stopped and sat in the sun for ages before the driver came and told us we’d broken down and we all had to get out and walk back. But we weren’t too far from the Duomo - we could see the tower.

A wee lie down in the afternoon for me (so good to have handy digs) a bit of window shopping for JR, then out in the evening for a coffee, a slice of pizza and some people watching. Another bride, this time strolling round town for photos.

We’re off on a tour tomorrow!
