Apple Brownies

Living in the university accommodation meant sharing a kitchen, and I never liked using it for too long. Therefore, we never really did proper cooking.

Well, today R made herself some brownies! I should've taken a photo but I forgot. So here is a photo R took of the changing colours of a tree's leaves.

We went to the nearby Tesco to look for some apple sauce. R is a vegan so she can't use eggs when baking, so she uses apple sauce as a substitute. She also didn't want to get margarine as we'd have very limited use for it at the moment but fortunately apple sauce is a substitute for that too.

Despite looking everywhere we couldn't find the apple sauce. Looked it up and found that it would be where the condiments are. Turns out that was the one place we didn't look.

Usually R would use smooth apple sauce but the only sauces there both had chunks of apple in it. Not a problem, but it meant that it was an apple chunk brownie. Because it was acting as an egg and margarine substitute R used up the whole jar immediately!

Wet day overall. I think we'll be in for a few more of those soon.
