Top Moldings. Leitz Summicron 50mm DR

Furniture and architectural moldings add depth, interest and a play of light to a cabinet or a building.  In the case of furniture, they can add considerable strength to thin cabinet members while still being decorative.  Here is the top panel all glued up.  The little molding  surrounds the front and both sides, hanging down a little below the frame.  The Blip - about 4 to 5 times actual size - shows a corner.  Somehow, the profile doesn't come to life until one sees a mitered corner.  This run of imbuia moldings was completed before the arrival of the fabulous Stanley #55 combination plane a few weeks back.  The job would have been much easier, but everything worked out with a simpler molding plane which I've used for years.
