RIP

We hadnt really planned to watch the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth but of course we did.
I put the telly on to have a quick look and ended up watching it. There was a powerful sense of history,  from the past, with all the pomp and ceremony but also there was a strong feeling that this today was a part of history that may never be repeated the same again.

The Queen wasnt some remote distant figurehead She showed she cared and her active  commitment to her role over 70 years has earned respect and loyalty.  She came over as a genuine likeable person. Charles will have a hard act to follow . But although he is a very different personality I do not doubt his commitment to his role as King.

I am full of admiration to the whole royal family for what must have been an extremely  emotionally exhausting week . Somehow they kept it together with a  'stiff upper lip' .

I certainly had tears in my eyes at certain moments, particularly as the cortege reached Windsor castle and they had her pony and corgis waiting.

The whole day was run with precision.
My respect for the pall bearers who perhaps had the most nerve wracking job of the day. They were faultless.
