Looking for Sid
Well tonight’s walk did not go to plan! Every time I think Sid is becoming a well behaved dog who comes back when called we somehow take a backward step. We started off well. He had done a good recall and was sniffing around the hedgerows and then he must have found an interesting scent. He zoomed off in one direction and then another and across fields. Sometimes I would get a glimpse of him running behind a hedge and sometimes he would nearly come back and then zoom off again. Mostly on my brother’s fields thank goodness but at the end he went into another field and into someone’s muddy pond. I saw him go in but Pierce couldn’t get over the stile towards that direction and I wasn’t sure I could get over the barbed wire fence and prickly hedge. I sat on the stile wondering what to do and then heard a rustle noise - ah ha I thought, so I went on towards the next stile and rustle rustle again - he was quietly tracking us now. So this is how I finally got him back. We got back to a field we knew and he got near enough so I could put him on the lead to go back home. Phew, only just before darkness fell too!
