Adieu

I was working nearly all day in Barcelona but managed to log in live to the committal service at Windsor Castle for The Queen, at the end of the day. The removal of the crown, staff and orb from the coffin took me into another world which, in itself, was deeply symbolic and moving. Just a few minutes later, after the piper had played, the national anthem rang out, with the camera on Charles. I stood all by myself in my IESE workroom and sang. I burst into tears. I’ve no idea where they came from (possibly from the many pathos speeches I had heard today from my students) but it was there and seemed to cap this whole period. It has been a long goodbye but a useful one, I think, in this sound bite world.
