Queen Elizabeth ll Funeral
I’m clear of Covid! That is, I’m almost clear, the other line is very faint - give me another day, I’m confident… those FOUR jabs certainly helped. Thank you NHS.
Archie had a great day, with TWO big walks. Denise came in the morning, and Elizabeth came in the afternoon, which meant that I could spend the whole day watching the funeral. JR didn’t watch quite all day, but went and cleaned the car (bird poo) and bottled the apple chutney.
What a spectacle. With lots of little touching moments too. The magnificent ancient buildings - inside and out. The eight young soldiers who carried the coffin several times, carefully folding the flag each time. The police who watched the crowds and not the procession. The massed bands, playing non-stop the whole way. The Lone Piper in the chapel fading into the distance. The sailors who pulled the coffin on the gun carriage. The flowers which had been re-bunched and placed all over the grass at Windsor Castle and up the Long Walk, The Queen’s favourite Fell Pony, Emma, watching. Two Corgis. Our youngest Royals at their first solemn occasion. Thousands and thousands of people waiting for hours, making friends with those around them.
London looked wonderful. The whole thing was spectacular. Makes me proud to be part of a United Kingdom.
Yes, I took these from the tv screen to record the day, but blip might remove them.
