South Coast Scribblings

Well, that was a difficult day

We watched just about all of the footage of the Queen's funeral day.  I found it difficult to get through.  The lone pipers always get to me and there were two - one at Westminster and one at Windsor!  So quite a few handkerchiefs were got through.  How the royals cope - in public - with all this is totally beyond me.  And that march behind the coffin from Westminster to the Wellington Arch was so long.  And the children, George and Charlotte, ages 9 and 7, having to sit through those two services - how tedious for them.  The dour voice of the Chaplain at Windsor Castle was awfully depressing - did anyone else think that?!

I must say I thought the choice of hymns was really good.  I especially like The Day Thou Gavest - and it seemed so appropriate with all the Commonwealth leaders present.

I wish King Charles all the strength and health that he will need in the coming days and years.  What an 'act' to follow.
